Job Description
Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide telehealth services within a school setting. This 1099 contract role involves facilitating clear and effective communication for students requiring sign language interpretation, ensuring they receive equitable access to educational content and support.
Responsibilities include:
• Delivering high-quality sign language interpretation via telehealth platforms.
• Collaborating with educational staff to support student communication needs.
• Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional ethics in all interactions.
• Participating in ongoing training to stay current with interpreting standards and best practices.
• Documenting service sessions as required by the school’s policies.
Qualifications:
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills.
• Experience providing telehealth interpreting services, preferably in an educational environment.
• Ability to work independently under a 1099 contract arrangement.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of educational terminology and settings is an advantage.
• Relevant certification or credentials in sign language interpreting.
Location: Bridgeport, CT (remote telehealth delivery to the school).
